Office Model Configuration: The energy model shown here assumes a typical U.S. office building configuration. The building model assumes a 15’ perimeter open office space surrounding a 40’ deep core. The layout allows for the maximum number of people to be located within the daylit area of the building, while elevators, restrooms, stairways, equipment rooms, and conference areas are located within the non-daylit core of the building. The building consists of 20,000-sq.-ft. floor plates, and contains eight ?oors for a total of 160,000 SF. The orientation of the building was set such that the long side faces east-west, which would be a likely scenario when the builder wishes to maximize a view. A window-to-wall ratio of 60% was used. Total plug loads were assumed to be 0.75 watts per square foot, representing typical office loads of computers, task lamps, copiers and other standard office equipment.
