Position Summary


This job has been created to design and implement quality systems at SAGE, especially in, but not limited to, the SageGlass® IGU manufacturing process and develop a reliability testing program and rapid screening system for the SageGlass® product systems. The role will not only develop the systems but over the long term build a technical team to ensure the programs are sustained.

Quality Systems

  1. Work with Manufacturing and Engineering groups to develop, implement and maintain a comprehensive quality program for the manufacturing process. This effort will be extended to other parts of the organization as this first large task is completed.
  2. Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization while maintaining awareness of the business context and company profitability, including budgetary control issues, safety and environmental requirements.
  3. Partner with production, engineering and vendors to review and resolve quality issues.
  4. Conduct process capability assessments
  5. Where appropriate assess SAGE’s specifications vs. customer and vendor’s specifications and help address gaps.
  6. Develop with the team standards and quality methods for them to apply. Review process procedures and quality specifications etc.
  7. Monitor and advise on how the quality management system is performing and publishes data and reports regarding company performance against set indicators.
  8. Identify training needs and provide training on aspects of quality system to production and engineering team as appropriate. Ensure quality checks and inspections are carried out appropriately.
  9. Ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation, e.g. ASTM, product safety standards, etc.
  10. Collate and analyze performance data and use to develop more effective testing or drive process improvements.
  11. Develop correlations between upstream and downstream test results. Tighten upstream test and specifications so as to reject product at lower value added step.

Reliability and Durability

  1. Develop key rapid testing scheme for product to qualify process changes and to detect latent issues prior to shipping.
  2. Implement a reliability testing program
  3. Develop an understanding of the product degradation mechanisms and how they can be accelerated by different factors
  4. Develop a long term durability testing program to assess product lifetime and in-field behavior.
  5. Analyze field returns and complete root cause analyses and feedback to process improvement/corrective action programs as necessary.
  6. Build data to provide better assessment product lifetime over time.

Leadership

  1. Provide supervision, coaching and development to direct reports
  2. Lead project teams as necessary to solve process or quality issues. These projects may be general yield related process and materials related issues.

Requirements

  1. A degree in engineering or other relevant field.
  2. Five+ years experience in developing and managing quality systems and reliability programs.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to lead and develop staff.

Position Summary


The Master Electrician serves as the licensed electrician in a factory setting. The employee obtains permits, performs electrical work as required by law, and performs the full range of technical aspects of electrical work. Electrical work is conducted hands on and by providing work direction to others. The employee uses independent judgement in making decisions.

Responsibilities

  1. Install, disconnect or modify electrical equipment while ensuring all NEC, OSHA and SAGE EC safety requirements are followed. Follow plant and equipment lockout/tag out procedures.
  2. Troubleshoot, diagnose, & repair electrical & automated control systems problems or failures.
  3. Plan, layout, install, and repair a wide variety of complex electrical equipment including automatic machine and process controls, control centers and panels, PLC’s, servo’s, digital process controllers, motion controllers, relays, circuit breakers, electronic controls, and other electrical/electronic equipment.
  4. Execute electrical installation or repair of facilities related equipment such as lighting, power distribution, building security and fire systems, HVAC, and cranes.
  5. Standardize electrical system documentation by developing or updating schematics, panel board schedules, one-line diagrams, I/O diagrams/lists, and Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures
  6. Support electrical & electronics training as needed on new equipment control systems
  7. Support electrical/electronics maintenance, calibration and set-up on all equipment with the objective to improve equipment uptime and performance.
  8. Assist with inventory and maintenance of electrical materials and components.
  9. Interact and function effectively in a high performance team environment. Effectively communicate with other employees, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  10. Provide work direction/lead work teams on specific maintenance projects or installations.
  11. Complete tasks in a timely and quality manner.
  12. Perform all job requirements in a safe manner and be a proactive safety role model.
  13. Keep work area and spare parts area in a neat and organized condition. Responsible for general housekeeping of work areas involved with.
  14. Perform at levels to meet or exceed established SAGE Electrochromics expectations.
  15. All other duties as necessary to support the success of SAGE Electrochromics..

Education and Experience

  1. Master Electrician with current license in the State of Minnesota.
  2. Minimum of five years related electrical & electronics experience within a manufacturing environment with proven experience in repair and factory installation of industrial equipment.
  3. Strong understanding of electrical systems and equipment controls. Allen Bradley & Siemens hardware and software experience preferred.
  4. Knowledge of vacuum system equipment is preferred.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere.
  6. Effective organizational skills to plan work load and manage multiple tasks.
  7. Proven problem solving and root cause identification and troubleshooting skills.
  8. Demonstrated ability for detail orientated work.
  9. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  10. Working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
